How to check that a PT is registered

A PT becomes a legal entity on the date the minister approves it, and that approval is what a check has to find — not a letterhead, a stamp or a website.

At a glance

The question
Does this company really exist as a legal entity?
Short answer
Yes, if the minister has issued a decision approving it as a legal entity and it is recorded in the company register.
Where it is checked
The AHU system for legal-entity status; OSS for the NIB and the business licence
What you need
The full name including its legal form, and where you have them: the approval number, the tax number or the NIB
What it proves
That the entity exists and is on record at the time of the check — and nothing beyond that

How to check

  1. Ask for three documents at once: the deed of establishment, the ministerial decision approving the company as a legal entity, and the NIB. If they are genuine, all three carry the same name and address.
  2. Match the name on the approval against the name used in the offer, legal form included. “PT Maju Jaya” and “Maju Jaya” are two different things in law.
  3. Check the number and date of that decision in the AHU system. Changes of articles, officers and address are filed there too, so the founding deed alone need not describe the present.
  4. Check the NIB in OSS. It belongs to one business and states which activities it may carry out, by the KBLI codes chosen.
  5. Match the officers named in the latest deed against whoever signs the contract. What binds the company is its board as the deed has it, not whoever holds the stamp.

How to read the result

What it does not prove

When it does not match

If the documents are missing or do not match, hold the payment and ask for certified copies first; a notary can verify the deed and the approval for you. If what is being offered is investment, lending, pawnbroking or insurance, the check stops here and continues in the register of illegal operations the authority publishes.

Every company profile here states its legal form and shows the official notices that concern it — bankruptcy, dissolution, liquidation — where there are any. Search the name in the field at the top of this page; what we show is a record, not a substitute for the official document.
